Official Statement by OOAK Records CEO Min Hee-jin Regarding the First Trial Victory in the HYBE v. Min Hee-jin Lawsuit

Hello, this is Min Hee-jin, CEO of OOAK Records.

I heard the court’s decision today. First of all, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the court for fairly distinguishing right from wrong through a long trial process. I would also like to express my unspeakable and sincere gratitude to the many people who believed in me and supported me for a long time, even though it was someone else’s business.

The past two years or so have taught me so much. Looking back, before the dispute, I worked incredibly hard, but I don’t think I really enjoyed the work itself. Ironically, through this dispute, I realized how much I love my work and how precious it is to me.

It was an exhausting process, but it was a valuable journey because it was a time to protect the essence of creation and production—the work I love the most. Even though it was a pain I never wanted to experience, I feel that even that pain wasn’t entirely bad.

I pay my respects to the court for confirming the legitimacy of the shareholders’ agreement through the judiciary’s judgment, and I hope this decision will serve as a turning point to self-purify and improve our K-pop industry. I hope it served as an opportunity to once again remind us of how strict contracts and promises are in the K-pop industry, and whether they adequately represent the positions of creators. Furthermore, I would like to send comfort and encouragement to those who are fighting against various absurdities in unseen places.

I feel a deep sense of apology in a corner of my heart to the fans and industry personnel who may have unintentionally felt fatigue during the dispute process. With HYBE as well, I hope that we can now move beyond mutual feelings or past rights and wrongs, and think together about how this industry we are a part of can be sustained more healthily.

Once again, I send my unspeakable gratitude to the fans and the OOAK Records family who worried about me more than I did myself for a long time. The fans saved me, and thanks to all of you, I was able to endure and prove it to the end.

Now, I want to shake off consuming disputes from my life. I am now returning to my place. Not to beat someone, but to pour all my energy into the work I want the most, the work I love the most, and the work I do best—that is, inspiring everyone and creating a new culture.

I believe the only thing I must do right now is to realize the blueprints I have drawn up one by one with OOAK Records, and to become a sturdy fence where our creators and artists can fully unleash their talents.

I will surprise you with amazing music and stages in the future.
