Team Bunnies Notice Regarding Complaints About Malicious Posts
Protective Disposition No. 1 is one of the lightest dispositions that can be imposed on juveniles aged 10 or older, entrusting custody to the juvenile’s guardian or a person capable of providing protection in place of the guardian.
Custody refers to providing care and protection. In most cases, custody is entrusted to the guardian, who is defined as a person with a legal obligation to supervise and educate the juvenile, or a person currently providing such supervision. A typical example would be the juvenile’s parents.
Hello. This is Team Bunnies.
Based on reports we have received regarding malicious posts targeting NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein), we have been continuously pursuing legal action in collaboration with the members’ legal representatives, Shin & Kim LLC and NewYear Law Office. All recently reported cases have been fully identified and transferred to the relevant police stations, with proceedings currently underway.
Authors of malicious posts have received various dispositions following referral to prosecution, including summary indictment with fines, suspended indictment with mandatory education, and formal indictment. We will continue to pursue all available measures against those whose offenses have been confirmed.
In particular, content that can cause lasting harm—such as racial discrimination, sexual harassment, and defamation—can never be justified under any circumstances. Posts deemed especially serious have been categorized separately and processed as quickly as possible.
The breakdown of platforms where complaints were filed is as follows: theqoo 31.11%, FMKorea 22.96%, others 20%, Naver 14.44%, and DCInside 11.48%. As for the outcomes: summary indictment with fines accounted for 41.74%, suspended indictment with mandatory education 30.79%, formal indictment 20.04%, and others 7.42%—with summary indictment with fines being the most common outcome.
Additionally, in early 2025, Team Bunnies was reported on two occasions through the e-People portal for alleged violations of the Act on Collection and Use of Donations, and underwent investigations by Jungang Police Station and Hwaseong Seobu Police Station. After referral to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office, we submitted all fundraising usage records, receipts, and a detailed account of the circumstances, resulting in the two cases being consolidated into one. We provided the same explanation to the Seoul Family Court, where both the “use for a good purpose” and “appropriateness of usage records” were recognized. The case was concluded with Protective Disposition No. 1 approximately two months before it was reported in the media, in early September.
Thank you.
