The statement by a group calling itself the ‘NewJeans Fandom Alliance Hoping for Peace at ADOR’ consists of five proposals aimed at resolving the internal conflict. However, their mediation proposal invokes former CEO Min Hee-jin—who voluntarily resigned last year—in addition to NewJeans and their agency ADOR, whom even the court has ‘designated’ as the parties to be mediated, making her a precondition for any agreement. This has only sparked ‘back-and-forth debate’ among netizens.

Furthermore, some have sharply criticized the statement for portraying the former CEO, who is ‘unrelated’ to this lawsuit, as one of the main parties to the agreement, questioning whether it is actually advocating for a specific individual’s position under the guise of being a fandom.

On August 13, one industry insider questioned, “Isn’t it ironic that Min Hee-jin, who resigned on her own, would sit at the mediation table with ADOR and NewJeans?” They added with regret, “There’s also the cynical remark from some that NewJeans wasn’t originally six members—that’s worth pondering. Hasn’t ‘fan devotion’ always been about wanting the idols they support to stand tall as truly independent artists as they gain more experience?”

Meanwhile, another insider pointed to the clause in the statement specifying ‘forgoing an astronomical sum through the put option’ as a condition for agreement, suggesting that the fandom who wrote it seems to have misidentified the crux of the conflict between the disputing parties.
