Exclusive Report on ‘NewJeans Parents Division Rumors’ (Chosun Biz, reporter Jang Woo-jung)
It has been revealed that some parents of NewJeans, who are in an exclusive contract termination lawsuit with their agency ADOR, have shown signs of opposing this dispute. This is the first time that disagreement among the parents has been confirmed.
According to industry sources on the 4th, at the first hearing for the ‘lawsuit seeking confirmation of exclusive contract validity’ held at the 41st Civil Division of the Seoul Central District Court on the 3rd, the presiding judge asked the defendant NewJeans’ side, referring to “Defendant No. 4,” “Is this a statement that a decision on the exercise of parental rights was made by the family court and all litigation acts up to now have been ratified?”
Currently, among the NewJeans members, Hyein and Haerin are the two minors. This is interpreted to mean that there was a disagreement between the parents of one of them regarding the exercise of parental rights for the exclusive contract termination lawsuit, and a trial was held in family court to resolve this issue.
Until now, the NewJeans parents have continued to claim through SNS and other channels that ADOR failed to fulfill its obligations under the exclusive contract, that the contract has been terminated, and that ADOR has no authority to manage or interfere with their activities.
However, following the court’s rejection of all of NewJeans’ claims on March 21st and its approval of ADOR’s injunction application prohibiting activities, it has now been confirmed that there is also a rift among the member parents who appeared to be moving as one. Observations suggest that the dispute may be entering a new phase going forward.
