ADOR Removes Danielle’s Chat History from Phoning / Announces Membership Renewal
On the afternoon of March 3rd, ADOR announced via the fan platform “Phoning” that it would be discontinuing the operation of content related to Danielle’s chat history. Phoning is a NewJeans-exclusive fan communication application developed through a collaboration between ADOR and Weverse Company, which had been widely loved by fans for features such as artists’ live broadcasts and group or individual chat functions. Following NewJeans’ notification of exclusive contract termination to ADOR on November 28, 2024, neither the members nor fans had been using it, though speculation had arisen about the possibility of it being revamped in line with the members’ gradual return.
ADOR announced through its notice that “Phoning values the memories that artists and fans have built together, but has decided to reorganize its content in order to provide better service,” and announced that Danielle-related content would remain accessible until 11:00 AM on April 3rd. This is understood to be an unavoidable measure to minimize the risk of potential future legal disputes in the wake of the termination of Danielle’s exclusive contract. At the same time, however, critics point out that the announcement can be read as a message formally declaring a “severing of ties” at a time when legal proceedings are still ongoing.
In particular, given that former CEO Min’s earlier proposal was premised on “the return of all five NewJeans members,” the removal of Danielle-related content is seen as a symbolic indication that HYBE and ADOR are unlikely to accept the proposal. The decision to maintain the lawsuits against Danielle, her mother, and former CEO Min is also being interpreted as a signal that they intend to maintain a hard-line stance, going beyond a simple contract dispute.
