We strongly condemn HYBE, ADOR, and Bang Si-hyuk for attempting to disband NewJeans as a complete group.
NewJeans is Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.
Despite all five NewJeans members expressing their intention to return together, HYBE and ADOR issued a notice of contract termination to only one member. This is an outrage aimed at unilaterally disbanding NewJeans as a complete group, and an act of deception toward the court, the parties involved, and the fans.
All this time, ADOR told the court and the media that they were preparing NewJeans’ full-length album and concert, claiming they were only waiting for the members to return. The court recognized the validity of the exclusive contract based on this premise of trust, and the NewJeans members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—respected the ruling and declared they would return together as a group. The fans respected the decision of all five NewJeans members and supported them as a fandom, looking forward to a successful comeback as a complete group.
However, immediately after NewJeans members declared their intention to return as a group, ADOR’s attitude changed completely. They stalled for over 40 days before selectively issuing a termination notice, deliberately attempting to divide the group. Did ADOR CEO Lee Do-kyung appeal to the court and bring NewJeans back only to tear them apart?
NewJeans’ strength lies in the fact that all five members, each with their own unique charm, achieve perfect balance and harmony as a team. The decision to disband the complete lineup of a group that is the company’s only artist and has driven the company’s profits with its high IP value cannot be explained by any ordinary business judgment of an entertainment company.
This is malicious tyranny by HYBE and Bang Si-hyuk, ADOR’s major shareholder and de facto decision-maker. Bang Si-hyuk has openly discriminated against NewJeans and excluded them by calling only groups he created “one team.”
Disbanding NewJeans as a complete group against the fierce opposition of fans and the wishes of the members themselves is an act that damages NewJeans’ value, tramples on their artistic freedom, and clips their wings. This will go down as the worst precedent in K-pop history.
‘NewJeans’ is the crystallization of memories and bonds created together by the five members—Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein—and their fans. We strongly condemn those who are trying to disband NewJeans. HYBE, ADOR, Bang Si-hyuk, and his subordinate Lee Do-kyung have admitted themselves that they lack the qualifications and ability to be NewJeans’ agency. Free NewJeans!
