[NOTICE] Update on Legal Action Regarding Violation of Artist Rights (4.9)

Hello. This is ADOR.

We would like to provide an update on the legal actions being taken to protect the rights of NewJeans.

Since NewJeans’ debut, we have been conducting ongoing monitoring and taking legal action against malicious online posts targeting our artists. As the volume and severity of malicious posts targeting our artists have increased sharply in recent times, we have appointed additional dedicated personnel and further strengthened our response system.

We are continuously collecting evidence of serious violations of artist rights across numerous online sites and social media channels, including DC Inside, Ilbe, Nate Pann, FM Korea, Naver, Blind, Dogdrip, TheQoo, Ppomppu, X (formerly Twitter), and YouTube. These violations include disparagement of artists’ nationality and appearance, dissemination of false information (fake news), invasion of privacy, and use of malicious profanity and derogatory terms. We are pursuing prompt deletion requests alongside legal proceedings.

In particular, we are taking criminal complaint action against malicious posts that are repetitive or severe enough to constitute criminal offenses. We have currently submitted criminal complaints to Yongsan Police Station, and we will continue to file additional complaints going forward.

We are also taking strict action against deepfake crimes, which have become a serious social problem. We are closely cooperating with investigative authorities regarding the production and distribution of fake videos targeting our artists, and a related suspect has actually been detained and referred to the prosecution.

ADOR will never agree to settlements or leniency under any circumstances when it comes to legal action related to the protection of artist rights. Furthermore, we are devising and actively implementing additional measures at the company level to ensure that perpetrators receive appropriate punishment.
