K-pop moves so fast that synchronicity, zeitgeist, or overlapping references—where people have the same thoughts at the same time—are frequent.
Since I tend to spend quite a bit of time on a single project (Hee-jin unnie or Producer Hee-jin matches well with me on this aspect and is becoming increasingly considerate), perhaps because it is bothersome to keep checking other videos released while the process is ongoing, I consciously do not use references that are not “classics.” Of course, unintentional overlapping references or even the zeitgeist cannot be avoided, but there is no reason to avoid them either.

The problem is not the overlapping references,
but using each other as references.

Regardless of whether the media is commercial or non-commercial, for any kind of art, this is a universal rule.

Copying is of no use to anyone.
