Team Bunnies Post (Regarding Complaints Against Malicious Posts and Violation of the Act on Collection and Use of Donations
Hello, this is Team Bunnies.
Based on the reports of malicious posts targeting NewJeans (Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, Hyein) received so far, we have been continuously proceeding with filing complaints together with the victims’ legal representatives, Shin & Kim and Law Office Newyear. For the recently received cases, the identification of all individuals has been completed, and the cases have been transferred to the competent police stations, with proceedings currently underway.
Regarding the authors of malicious posts, various dispositions have been made following their referral to the prosecution, including summary orders (fines), suspension of indictment on condition of completing an educational program, and decisions to indict. In cases where charges were confirmed, we plan to take all possible additional measures.
In particular, content such as racism, sexual harassment, and insults that can leave lasting scars cannot be justified under any circumstances. Therefore, high-severity posts were categorized separately and handled as swiftly as possible.
The breakdown of platforms where complaints were filed is as follows: Theqoo 31.11%, FMKorea 22.96%, Others 20%, Naver 14.44%, and DC Inside 11.48%. The breakdown of disposition results is: summary order (fines) 41.74%, suspension of indictment on condition of completing an educational program 30.79%, indictment 20.04%, and others 7.42%. The summary order (fine) accounted for the highest proportion.
Additionally, in early 2025, two cases regarding allegations of violating the Act on Collection and Use of Donations were filed against Team Bunnies via e-People, leading to investigations by Jungbu Police Station and Hwaseong Seobu Police Station. After being referred to the Seoul Northern District Prosecutors’ Office, we submitted all records of fundraising usage, receipts, and details of the events, resulting in the consolidation of the two cases. We clarified the same points to the Seoul Family Court, where the “use for a good cause” and the “appropriateness of usage details” were acknowledged. Consequently, the case was concluded with a Protective Disposition No. 1 in early September, approximately two months before the incident was reported in the media.
Thank you.
