From the Trial (4)
Regarding the “album pushing” mentioned during the trial, some articles have omitted details and misinformation has spread in online communities. The following is intended to provide accurate clarification.
1.
During the process of CEO Min Hee-jin questioning Jung Jin-soo, she responded to and explained matters because there were factually inaccurate parts that needed to be refuted and further clarified from what KIM&CHANG had initially mentioned regarding album pushing and other groups. It was not CEO Min Hee-jin who first brought up album pushing or the names of specific groups. (Presiding Judge: The non-compete theme is finished. We’ve moved on to the album pushing theme. The album pushing theme. You may proceed with questions regarding positions.) (The trial proceeded in the following order: Plaintiff’s direct examination → Plaintiff’s cross-examination → Plaintiff’s confrontation examination → Plaintiff’s redirect examination.)
2.
The explanation regarding album pushing was based on information heard from relevant parties (Person A and a HYBE Japan business planning interpreter, among others) using sales figures as evidence, as well as actual solicitation cases that ADOR had previously received. It was not simply based on the fact that a specific team sold a lot. Furthermore, CEO Min Hee-jin has never once publicly explained or mentioned that a group under BELIFT LAB engaged in album pushing by specifically naming them.
* She raised questions and suspicions during conversations with Person A; she did not publicly disclose this to the general public. The first public mention naming a specific group was in the rebuttal statement distributed by HYBE on May 17, 2024. (In the whistleblower email sent by CEO Min Hee-jin (reported on May 17, 2024), there was no content pointing to a specific group and stating “they engaged in album pushing.” She explained using the example of the solicitation to engage in album pushing for NewJeans’ Get Up album.)
