The following is the full text of NewJeans’ statement

Hello. This is Minji, Hanni, Danielle, Haerin, and Hyein.

We have confirmed through media reports that ADOR has filed a “lawsuit to confirm validity of exclusive contract” against us, followed by an “injunction to preserve agency status and prohibit advertising contract execution.” We received the complaint and application a few days ago, and we have appointed Shin & Kim as our legal representative.

Given that ADOR and HYBE have appointed Kim & Chang as their legal representative, we felt we needed a law firm capable of responding to them. We believe Shin & Kim, which already understands the wrongdoings and issues of HYBE and ADOR, is the most suitable choice, especially to respond to the rapidly progressing injunction proceedings.

HYBE and ADOR have failed to fulfill their obligations as an agency to protect and nurture their artists. Throughout our activities, there were numerous large and small obstructions, and they even disguised their intention to “end our entertainment careers” with the words “extended vacation” in order to essentially abandon and replace us. Even after the exclusive contract was lawfully terminated, baseless criticism targeting us poured out through the media and YouTube “tow truck” channels, most of which could not have been known unless ADOR and HYBE had provided the information. We have no choice but to believe that ADOR and HYBE are at the center of all these events.

In this way, ADOR and HYBE have been telling us to come back while continuously harassing and attacking us out of the public eye, just as before. Recently, they even secretly met with some of our parents to try to appease them or drive a wedge between us. Instead of disparaging and attempting to divide the other side through cowardly methods out of sight, and manipulating the media with false information, we hope they will settle right and wrong fairly and honestly without lies.

We state firmly: The five of us have absolutely no intention of returning to HYBE and ADOR, from whom we cannot expect even the most basic good faith.

Even after the termination of the exclusive contract, we wanted to wrap up the remaining schedules and contracts as amicably as possible without disputes, and we hoped that no harm would come to those involved. Seeing ADOR and HYBE refuse to cooperate with such intentions and efforts, and instead cause harm to us and many others through improper means, we have decided to remain silent no longer.

We intend to clearly reveal the wrongdoings of ADOR and HYBE through legal proceedings and fight proudly in court to make the truth known.

We are sorry to cause concern to the fans who cherish and love us. However, we will stand firm until the end through legitimate means so that we can freely share our music with you again as soon as possible. We ask for your support. Thank you.
