Team Bunnies Claims HYBE Tried to Investigate Team Bunnies’ Personal Information
Hello, this is Team Bunnies.
Yesterday, October 2nd, was the deadline for a response to the letter of protest we sent to ADOR CEO Kim Ju-young. The letter, filled with sincere concerns, was delivered by mail. We requested that she provide honest answers to all matters, even at this late stage, and respond faithfully to the artists’ demands.
Team Bunnies has already completed multiple legal reviews and waited until the very end for a response. However, we will now proceed with filing complaints against ADOR CEO Kim Ju-young, as well as HYBE’s top executives who remained silent without offering any apology or promise of corrective action to the artists and fans—including Lee Do-kyung (Vice President), Park Tae-hee (CCO), and Cho Sung-hoon (Head of PR). We believe that not only us, but also the artists and former CEO Min Hee-jin have given HYBE multiple opportunities. There were moments when everything could have been resolved amicably, but it was HYBE that ignored them and caused the current situation. It is regrettable, but we are filing this complaint in hopes that they will fully take responsibility for their evasion and deception.
We will provide details of the complaint through the Team Bunnies account after filing. Among the various violations, we focused on the most serious matters, completed our legal review, and are proceeding with the complaint as we believe there is sufficient evidence to substantiate the charges.
Additionally, we would like to update you on the progress of the National Assembly audit. As a fandom supporting the artists, pursuing this matter has been an enormous burden at every moment, and we questioned many times whether we really had to go this far. With so many national issues at hand, we needed to be certain that this was not just our problem, but a problem affecting culture as a whole. After consulting with various experts, we concluded that HYBE’s misconduct could not be overlooked, and we proceeded with a heavy heart. We want to make clear that this is not mere whining asking for our demands to be met, but a desperate appeal for oversight and sanctions from national institutions.
With the desperate mindset that this was our first and last chance, we reached out to every possible channel. We earnestly asked them to stop HYBE, which is becoming an unstoppable monster, and to look into this issue properly just once. The process was not easy. Despite sending reports and submitting documents to numerous places and receiving empathy and encouragement, at the last moment, unnecessary interference made the summoning of Chairman Bang Si-hyuk uncertain. We accepted the reduced scope of the audit, which was narrowed down to ‘Weverse’ unfair trade practices and ‘workplace harassment’ issues. During this process, we also confirmed that HYBE had been visiting lawmakers’ offices directly—not just through their government relations team—pleading that an audit was unnecessary.
Yesterday afternoon, we received a call from Representative Im Oh-kyung, the Chief Secretary of the Culture, Sports and Tourism Committee. Through an extended conversation, we emphasized why this audit is necessary, and that this is not simply a fandom’s outcry, but a cry to protect the cultural domain that we love and must safeguard from being violated. We also received explanations about why the matters were scaled down and how much HYBE had intervened in the process. We sincerely thank the Chief Secretary for engaging in such an honest and lengthy conversation. We trust that she will follow through on her promises to re-examine the matters and corrective measures, re-discuss the necessity of the audit, and assist in the process leading to a standalone HYBE hearing if necessary.
We know that many Bunnies have sent their opinions to lawmakers’ offices via fax and text messages. Many lawmakers are well aware of this issue, and the hearts of Bunnies have made a significant impact on national institutions as well. This time, with the desperate mindset that it was our first and last chance, we pushed forward somewhat aggressively with our opinions, and we have asked the lawmakers to understand these circumstances. We thank the Bunnies who joined forces, and Team Bunnies will faithfully fulfill its role for a better tomorrow.
Lastly, a warning to HYBE. No one expected that mobilizing media outlets for corrupt solicitations to journalists and threatening editorial desks would extend to national institutions. We warn you once again. If you have done wrong, step forward and promise to accept the audit and make corrections. If you believe you have done nothing wrong, come out with dignity and explain yourselves directly. How long will you continue to carry out all kinds of disruption and obstruction from behind the scenes, unable to even put your own name forward? We are appalled that you would shamelessly engage in such behavior even before lawmakers who represent the people. You have obstructed the audit by bringing up unrelated legal disputes, deliberately fed false information to lawmakers to distort the case—just as HYBE’s Head of PR, the main perpetrator of the recording incident, did—and there were even attempts to investigate Team Bunnies’ personal information.
Stop behaving in ways that should embarrass you as adults. If you don’t understand why what you’ve done is shameful, isn’t it time to stop your cowardly behavior of stubbornly denying everything and protecting only yourselves? Evil actions will inevitably pay their price. No matter how long it takes, that is how it will end. We hope HYBE takes this warning to heart.
Thank you for reading this long message. We will update you again on the day we file the complaint.
