ADOR (CEO Kim ********) Rebuts Director Shin Woo-seok’s September 2 Official Statement; Shin Rebuts Again
Hello. This is ADOR.
We would like to share ADOR’s position regarding the statement posted by Dolphiners Films’ Director Shin Woo-seok on his Instagram on September 2nd.
The ETA music video director’s cut that Dolphiners Films uploaded to their own social media channel is an edited version that includes elements that were previously in dispute with the advertiser, and it was posted without authorization and without consultation with the advertiser.
Furthermore, under the contract between ADOR and Dolphiners Films, the copyright for NewJeans’ music videos and all related works belongs to ADOR. Therefore, the ETA music video and any edits thereof (including the director’s cut) should be posted on our official channels. This is to protect the rights of the artists.
Accordingly, ADOR only requested that Dolphiners Films take down the director’s cut video in question. We never demanded the deletion or cessation of uploads for all NewJeans-related videos, including the Ban Heesoo channel, and ADOR’s channel operation policy has not changed.
However, Director Shin Woo-seok of Dolphiners Films is spreading false information suggesting that ADOR demanded the deletion of all NewJeans-related videos, including the Ban Heesoo channel, not just the director’s cut video.
ADOR hereby informs you that Director Shin Woo-seok’s claims differ significantly from the facts as stated above, and we express strong regret over Dolphiners Films’ breach of contract and dissemination of false information.
We will take every possible measure to ensure that the deleted NewJeans content can be uploaded to ADOR’s official channels in the future.
Thank you.
What are you even talking about?
Today, I reconfirmed over the phone the agreement that was made regarding the director’s cut upload. At the time, the three parties that came together for the production agreed to release the director’s cut on the Dolphiners Films channel for the fans. Yet ADOR’s current management is making false claims that Dolphiners Films posted the director’s cut without authorization. Why are you dragging an unrelated third party into this for your media play? This is an act that disregards the unwritten rules of the advertising industry while also betraying the basic principle of good faith in business.
It was ADOR that made the deletion request, claiming that videos with copyrights and likeness rights belonging to ADOR can only be made public on official accounts and cannot exist on third-party channels. You threatened us on Sunday evening that if we didn’t delete everything by Monday morning, you would send Dolphiners Films a formal legal notice and demand double the service fee as a penalty—and now you’re saying this? Could it be that you only learned about the existence of the Ban Heesoo channel after everything was already deleted?
Let’s be reasonable here—what director in the world would burn their own work? What reason would I have to do that? The Ban Heesoo channel was an extension of “Ditto,” a work I directed, and it was a channel and videos I voluntarily created for the fans without any compensation, which I offered to ADOR of my own accord. And now you’re saying I suddenly deleted everything for no reason at all?
Dolphiners Films worked hard to make the music video a great piece of work, and we volunteered to work without pay for the sake of the work’s quality and for the fans. And even in the face of the current ADOR management’s unreasonable demands—which overturn previous agreements—we deleted the videos. You don’t even know what was agreed upon at the time, so what exactly is your problem that you’re turning Dolphiners Films into contract violators and spreaders of false information? I don’t know if this is because I wrote a petition, or because I refused to produce HYBE’s music videos, or if this is part of an effort to erase NewJeans—but stop distorting the truth with your dirty media play. I’m sure you’ll keep doing it anyway.
