Source Music Files 500 Million Won Damages Lawsuit Against Former CEO Min Hee-jin for Defamation/Obstruction of Business and Insult
According to legal sources on the 15th, Source Music recently filed a lawsuit at the Seoul Western District Court seeking approximately 500 million won in damages from CEO Min for harm caused by defamation, obstruction of business, and insult.
Source Music is reported to have raised three main issues in its complaint:
- CEO Min’s claim that she personally cast the NewJeans members
- The claim that a promise to debut NewJeans as HYBE’s first girl group was unilaterally broken
- The claim that Source Music neglected the NewJeans members
At her first press conference on April 25th, she had stated, “When we were managed by Source, we were neglected,” and “Everyone joined because they were told this would be HYBE’s first girl group, because of Min Hee-jin.”
Source Music claimed that CEO Min’s statements caused rumors that LE SSERAFIM was “a girl group that received special treatment and caused harm to other teams,” resulting in severe malicious comments and other damages.
