Report Claims ‘Bubble Gum’ Is ‘Not on the Charts’ Even Before Release
NewJeans made their comeback in late April, yet their absence from music charts is raising public questions.
As of 7 PM on the 8th, the No. 1 spot on the Melon TOP 100 chart is held by Zico’s new song ‘SPOT!’ featuring BLACKPINK’s Jennie. This song is also gaining buzz through challenge videos by Jennie and Zico.
No. 2 is ILLIT’s ‘Magnetic,’ No. 3 is IVE’s ‘HEYA,’ No. 4 is (G)I-DLE’s ‘Fate,’ and No. 5 is QWER’s ‘Discord.’
The first appearance of NewJeans’ name in the top 100 chart is ‘ETA’ at No. 37.

NewJeans’ comeback date was April 27, the day after ADOR label CEO Min Hee-jin’s press conference. The music video was released amid the management rights dispute controversy with HYBE, and with the added noise marketing effect, it has garnered over 27.78 million views as of now, 11 days after its release. This is about one-third of the views (63.73 million) for their debut song ‘Attention’ official music video released a year ago.
Despite this initial buzz, the reason NewJeans’ new song cannot be found on the music charts is that the official album has not yet been released. The release date for NewJeans’ new album ‘How Sweet’ is May 24.
